About the Artist

Giles FordGiles Ford
Giles Ford studied Fine Art (drawing, painting, sculpture and ceramics) at the Heatherley School of Fine Art in Chelsea, London. He has also studied courses at the Chelsea School of Art, Central St Martins, the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, the Provincetown Art Association and Museum, and been mentored by Cynthia Packard in experimental oil painting techniques. Giles is an intuitive action painter, spontaneous and expressive, interested in the alchemy of painting and ‘the dialogue of surprise’, when one picks up a paintbrush and engages with imagination and the world. He enjoys inhabiting the spectrum between the representational and the abstract, exploring and depicting the mysterious penumbra of experience and observation, and the feeling of never quite knowing what will happen or why. Painting opens up a sense of the ethereal for him, a bursting freedom and innocence.
