GUEST ARTIST ANASTASIA EGELI
LEGACY OF COLOR
AUGUST 30-SEPTEMBER 5
RECEPTION FRIDAY AUGUST 30, 7-9pm
Kobalt Gallery welcomes guest artist Anastasia Egeli with a solo exhibition of new works August 30th through September 5th. “Legacy of Color” features a broad spectrum of Egeli’s paintings from portraits to familiar Provincetown scenes.
Anastasia Egeli has been coming to Provincetown every summer throughout her whole life. She sold her first painting to the accomplished artist Ann Weismann while painting in Henry Henche’s garden off Conwell Street. Anastasia began her art study with color under Henche at the Cape School of Art, and then trained as a portrait painter in the tradition of her grandfather Bjorn Egeli and father Cedric Egeli. She refined her skill for interpreting form at the American Academy of Art in Chicago, and studied the techniques of oil painting with accomplished artist and teacher Daniel Greene in New York and Nelson Shanks in Philadelphia.
An accomplished portrait artist with works in numerous private collections, Anastasia returned this summer to live in the home of Richard E. Miller, a Provincetown artist who coincidentally trained her grandfather. The house and garden ignited a spark of creativity that highlights her own long love affair with the Provincetown light and aesthetic.
Meet the artist Friday August 30th, from 7 to 9pm.
